EGR Block Off Plates

What is an EGR Plate?

If you’re considering or have already performed a Weber carburetor conversion on your 86-93 B2000 or B2200, you may have noticed that there are several unnecessary components that can be removed for a cleaner look. One of these components is the EGR valve, which is rendered obsolete by the conversion. Once removed you will need a plate for this area of the intake to cover the holes left behind.

These plates are made of aluminum and come with 3 Stainless M6-1.0 x 12 mm Allen Hex button head socket cap bolts for a nice clean look.

These EGR plates feature a throttle spring tab or perch that has been repositioned for better performance. During testing, it was found that the higher location of the tab is more effective for the spring. The previous lower tab location had placed the spring under unnecessary tension, especially during highway speeds.

  • To install, first remove the EGR valve and clean the mounting surface using a brake cleaner or a similar surface cleaner.
  • Once the surface is clean, apply a thin layer of high temp RTV sealant to the surface area.
  • Next, install the EGR block plate, and secure it with the supplied bolts.
  • The whole process should take around 10 minutes to complete.

Watch this video on how I choose and install the plates.

STYLE A

This style of plate leaves room for two vacuum ports that are usually capped off should you want to keep them for adding something else later and need a vacuum port for it.

STYLE B

This style is preferred if you have removed the two vacuum ports next to the EGR. This makes for a cleaner look, and you don’t have to worry about a vacuum cap cracking and causing erratic idling.
