Turning engine over by hand?

This is my first time ever rebuilding a engine I have a 92 b2200 with a 2.2 I don’t know to much about wrenching I’m slowly learning this is my first project and vehicle but I seen somewhere that you should be able to turn your engine over by hand but if you can’t something’s wrong Idk what the problem is I took out each piston one at a time and turned it over and when I got to the 3rd piston and went to turn it by hand it was fine so I thought to just re hone the cylinder a little more relube all the cylinders cause it was pretty dry went to torque all the main caps and bearings tried to turn it over again and it wouldn’t turn I’m guessing it’s to tight either the main caps or rod bearings but I tried to go lower like 50 ft pounds for the main caps and 32 for the bearings and it still won’t turn over it seems to tight still does anyone got a idea what’s wrong maybe what I did wrong?

Shane.......please explain exactly HOW you are trying to "turn your engine over by HAND".

Are you using a 21mm socket on the front crankshaft/harmonic balancer 21mm bolt? Or are you simply trying to rotate the engine with your HAND......and no tools?

Do you have the engine on a engine stand? Or is it still in the truck?

Axel-Breaker-Earl no not with my hand yes a tool but I got it i just switched around some of the connecting rod ends and it was all good after turned perfectly fine by hand with a tool and with my bare hand

So.....did you mix the rods and caps up? Or did you just flip the rod cap on it's rod?

The rods and their caps should stay with each other. NO mixing between rods!

With each rod AND cap, there is a couple of stamped lines on one side of the rod AND cap.......they are there so you can match the rod and cap back together again, after a dismantle procedure. I will see if I have a picture of them and post it here for you.
