Question on installing lifters and heater

I recently installed new lifters and made sure they were all primed good, how long does it usually take for the ticking to go away? I still have the ticking sound. Also all my settings for the heat in the truck work but it just blows air, never hot air. Any ideas what that could be?

Daytona500 Hey Mitch, I only took out the valve train, never disassembled it. All I did was take it out and put the new lifters in. Could the exhaust rain have moved when I took it out maybe? And yes I primed the lifters by hand and double checked each one was hard. The engine is clean too. Let me know what else it could be thanks for your help. Think I might take it apart again and go through it again

A couple questions...
How far down did you disassemble the valve train?
The reason I ask is because the valve train rails have oil gallies and if you put the exhaust side in incorrectly it will starve that side of oil. I think I covered that in the cylinder head rebuild video on YouTube

How did you prime your lifters?
The reason I ask, is because they have to be primed by hand till they are HARD. Soaking doesn't do shit. Covered that on YouTube https://youtu.be/oVlh0LuZnBE?si=1uud0mf8SzQ7GliA.

How dirty was the engine on when you replaced the lifters?
The reason I ask is because if the engine is not clean, if its had neglected oil changes its entire life and there is noticeable crust all over the place, the likely hood of debris getting back in the tiny orifices of a lifter are substantial.

The heater is of course unrelated, but there is a hot water valve near the gas pedal that has a metal cable connected to it. When you turn the cold/hot dial this is operated. Maybe your cable is detached.

What Mitch said on the temperature cable being detached......also, I have seen this several times......the device behind the dash that the temperature dial attaches to, can be broken! It will "click" like it is working, but the temperature cable will not get pushed or pulled and therefore you are not getting the coolant valve (down by the gas pedal) to turn/adjust and therefore no heat.
Here is a couple of pics of my truck that had the broken device........When I found this, I tried to melt the plastic back together, but it still broke again.

There are actually two different designs of that device also. The broken device came on a 1991 B2600i truck and I believe it was original to that truck. The other device in the pics below (black cable), came out of a 1986 or 1987 B2200, and it is designed much better for strength! So I just swapped it into my truck and it's been working ever since.

Daytona500 sounds like you did the job well.

The rail, if it's in there wrong, there will be a hole in the middle cap on the driver side.
