A couple questions...
How far down did you disassemble the valve train?
The reason I ask is because the valve train rails have oil gallies and if you put the exhaust side in incorrectly it will starve that side of oil. I think I covered that in the cylinder head rebuild video on YouTube

How did you prime your lifters?
The reason I ask, is because they have to be primed by hand till they are HARD. Soaking doesn't do shit. Covered that on YouTube https://youtu.be/oVlh0LuZnBE?si=1uud0mf8SzQ7GliA.
How dirty was the engine on when you replaced the lifters?
The reason I ask is because if the engine is not clean, if its had neglected oil changes its entire life and there is noticeable crust all over the place, the likely hood of debris getting back in the tiny orifices of a lifter are substantial.
The heater is of course unrelated, but there is a hot water valve near the gas pedal that has a metal cable connected to it. When you turn the cold/hot dial this is operated. Maybe your cable is detached.
