Thanks so much to Mitch and you guys here. With your help, I was able to fix my old girl up a little. She's not a race truck but so much better now than what she was.
This girl went through three heads in her 12 years of my ownership. The last time she blew a head, Mitch and this group brought her back to life.
I did a complete emissions delete and cat delete. Now running a performance header out a 2inch pipe using a turbo muffler. I hate a fart muffler so this is a fair balance.
Replaced the carb with a genuine 32/36. Pluged all unused vac lines as per Mitch's video, tap and plug. Installed a completely new head with mechanical valves and properly gapped. Timing and air mixture adj.
This girl now can actually climb a hill and gain speed instead of screaming and loosing speed..
My gas mileage needs improvement, I'm in city mostly averaging 17/18mpg. That's about the same as i I was getting before but now I have so much more power and better performance compared to before. So it's a win in my book. I would love to see 20 in the city but I may be expecting to much. I'm sure I have more to do to get it right.
Once I got her on the road, a bathroom remodel took over my time.
Any more work on the truck will come at a later date. I also have a bass tracker torn apart I need to get back together before spring. It had leaks that required ripping out all the floors and rebuilding. Leaks are all fixed, just had to get other more important projects done for the wife before i can tackle that.
Anyway, glad to be here.
