My '88 B2200 is my daily driver since I bought it in 1994. I rebuilt the top end of my '88 B2200 in 2011 due to engine smoking; I had the head re-done at a machine shop, and I installed new standard sized pistons, new rings, new connecting rod bearings. I used a hone on the cylinder bores, did all this without removing the engine. My main bearings looked good so I left those in place.
In early 2020 the smoking returned, and I decided to get the engine fully rebuilt by a local engine remanufacturing company, who also did the engine R&R. They bored the cylinders to first oversize and used oversize pistons/rings.
So I'd at minimum have the cylinder bores measured, and if needed, get the block done oversize.
