OG-Static1 So far the transmission seems ok. I haven’t gotten to deep into it. I did however find out tonight after filling it up the gas tank leaks. I found it late. So tomorrow I’ll do more investigating.
So......did you fill the tank completely full? The reason that I ask this is......there is a smaller diameter rubber "vent hose" that is on the gas tank and it connects to the top of the gas tank, right next to the larger "fill hose" and it runs up to the metal filler neck where you stick the fuel nozzle into the truck when you get gas.
That smaller diameter rubber vent hose will dry rot and develop cracks in the rubber hose, right above the connection to the gas tank. SO, when you fill the tank up, you will have gas leak out of those cracks in the rubber vent hose, and your truck will smell like gas until the level of gas in the tank gets lower than 3/4 filled or so. Driving around a corner, stopping and taking off, etc. will cause the fuel to leak out of the tank........is is surprising how much will leak out when the tank is filled up!
Here is some pics of that hose........and you don't have to remove the bed like I did to replace it!
Here is where (circled in red) the small hose will crack.....
Hose removed........disregard my feet!
Hose replaced with a doner hose (I think!)......the hose is approx. 5/8" or so in diameter. This was done over 18 years ago!! No wonder I can't remember! See.....global warming is a hoax! 18 years ago it was hotter! Hence the flip flops!!
