help me find the knock

rebuilt the 2.0 and drove it for like a month, till It started to knock and lose power. I find out I didn't have a pcv valve on. Just some weird fitting that looked like one. I replaced with a pcv valve.

truck idles fine, I can rev the piss out of it. but when I put it in gear it makes an engine knock sound. I even changed the oil with 10w40, 1st oil chamge since the rebuild. next I'll try the T6 oil
i checked the oil and didn't find any metal in it. I'm stumped what can cause that sound?
i want to drop the pan and inspect the bottom end.

Is your distributor timed correctly AND advancing properly?

Cusser yes I'm pretty sure. I'll post pics and vids when I get home

How much of a rebuild was it?
(Just the lower end or a complete rebuild head to bottom end)

How did it run after the rebuild?

Was the head reworked?
Pull the valve cover and check your cam for cam wipe.

Did maybe you have a [bearing in the transmission] go out and it's just happenstance that it coincides w/ the rebuild?

Please follow the others' advice first - this isn't meant to distract you from trying to troubleshoot, but bearings can fail and "suddenly" isn't outside of the realm of possibility.

kz6fittycent that's what i was thinking too. just thought how funny that was to happen. but I googled my symptoms and they do suggest that happening

kz6fittycent I took motor & trans out of my running 92 because the gear box busted and put in my 89 and first run out it got stuck in reverse and won't come out any help?

I've not seen a video for our transmission specifically, but there are a number of videos out there showcasing it - they're really so similar you could get it right by studying it out and applying some logic.

I will need to rebuild mine too as it's pretty "whiney".
