You guys have incredible resources both in your heads and at your fingertips, thank you ..

Often times you guys refer to service manuals for some very technical information regarding our trucks. I'm assuming those are from service manuals, not you typical Haynes books.

Are those resources available for us to currently buy somewhere? I had such a manual for my 49 Lincoln and it had some incredible info including fasteners for each section.

In the meantime, I am creating this thread so we can ask the experts, some simple questions ..

My first question, what are the size and length of the factory bolts, (4 I believe), that hold the engine cross brace in place? I need to buy those bolts as my truck is missing those ..

Some dont even realize how I have made copies of all the gaskets and they are to scale.
You can print them out, cut them out, trace onto material and cut them out again and save your some money.
No need to buy a kit to get ONE gasket.

Stickers sales are nothing. I always like the logo I CREATED, but no one seems to either like them, or do not want the sticker up anything. Doesnt matter.

There are google ad placements on this site to help offset the hosting costs.

MazdaMitch get you windows decal maybe? I'm one that don't want sticker on my ride so I feel what your talkin about and greatly appreciate the site and in the process of gettin 2 or you block off plates I wish they could come in black but understand why cant

Don't know the size of those bolts maybe someone else does but what I would like to do in the future.... if I ever find the time... Is to create a web page with every bolt in the description of each bolt thread pitch and size of head and grade.

Received the EGR plate yesterday, Thank you, makes sense to make it out of aluminum to match the intake, the metal "Home Made" one I currently have on there, looks like ass and is probably one of the places letting air in causing the carb to run rough.
Can't wait to get that engine out this weekend .. Pics to come.

Also for anyone reading this I am not doing this for any sort of praise or anything like that.

This is the type of website and stuff that I wish was around many many years ago. That's all there is to it.

I really just want to have to resources and the videos available for anyone that may want to learn how to wrench on something whether it be right or wrong (I'm not always right).

There are a lot of the younger generation that do not know how to work on anything and their fathers do not know I don't work on anything so the more knowledge that we pass on to anyone reading or watching the better.

Also you know this site has been around for a long time but the recent revamp has made it to where I could post blog style posts or articles if you will, and how to segments and stuff for reading because some people don't appreciate videos they would rather read or get right to it so I'm trying to do both.

Feel like I'm hijacking this thread so bad but I revamped it in September or something and what I planned on doing was getting this forum up and riding articles that matched the YouTube videos so that people could read or watch their choice but I've slowed down on that article making and I need to get back on it.

I also have not made the time to make any "how to" posts/articles, but it'll happen.

When Mazdatruckin.com was going through it's issues, several of us Mods & Admins tried to get the Owner to sell the site so that we could provide a more stable site.......he wouldn't sell it. I tried to give him some money when he said that funds were tight when he didn't pay the hosting fees (several times), but he wouldn't take it. He did have some personal issues, but the nail in the coffin was when the hosting company (one guy only I believe) got Covid (or something) and wound up passing away, and no one could get hold of him until it was too late. EmJay (he's on here also) was the other Admin and we were having to communicate with the Owner through EmJay, but he couldn't even get ahold of the Owner most of the time. It was a shame that the site went down and all of that info was lost.

OK, so I'll bring this train back on track .. lol

I have been looking through the service manual today in search of the chassis cross-member, I need to buy the proper bolts. The service manual seems to be missing a chassis section. I haven't seen that crossmember pop up in any other logical section.

So here is my ask .. Someone who has their truck in a non driving condition, could you please go under the truck and remove one of your bolts and share the thread / pitch and length of that bolt? Hopefully you have a thread checker, lol.

At least here we can keep that info forever, as Mitch suggested, let it be the first entry in our Mazda Bolt Dictionary ..

I've found that Ace Hardware carries way more metric stuff than Home Depot, much better on many items. Like today I picked up two set screws with allen head for something at my home, were 8-32 thread even though made in China.

As you can see from the pic in the above reply, this whole area is twisted and bent. The rig the previous owner made is insane and forced me to buy new lower control arms as well. I will be sourcing them from ACE, but I would rather not start guessing, each trip there and back costs me an hour ..

The 1987 B2000 Mazda Flange Bolt part number for the transmission crossmember is:

9979-61-025

You can get on Jim Ellis Mazda's Parts website and look up the bolts, washers, & nuts and actually order the correct Mazda bolts........but you can also buy a regular metric FLANGE Bolt, FLANGE Nut, Flat Washer & Lock Washer from a hardware store and it will look exactly like the Mazda fasteners.

Strike 1 guys, it is not the transmission crossmember, it is the cross member that sits below the engine. Should be a total of 4 bolts ...

Here is the garbage I have there now .. They are not the factory bolts

I'm fortunate; Ace is 400 yards away from me in Phoenix. I was there yesterday, bought two allen-head 8-32 set screws for a toilet paper roll holder, and a 3-foot piece of aluminum 1-inch angle, which I cut to 16 inches and silicone-glued in to replace a cheaply made gray handle for a fruit drawer in the refrigerator (Mrs. Cusser broke that, she can break anything!!!).

Why those set screws were 8-32 in a china-made part from 2 decades ago, I have no idea, but the original ones were slotted and one I couldn't tighten. 53 cents each.

So now on to the bonus round .. I have this valve cover .. pictured below, underneath it has another plate that is removable and has its own gasket. That too needs to be replaced as it was all cracked when I took the plate off to completely clean the inside of the valve cover.

Any Idea what that cover is called? Or where to locate the gasket that was originally there? It seems to provide a channel for the PCV valve and collects oil over time ..

I'll get a picture of it tonight when I'm home to show the class ..

OGMB2K it is a baffle and it is really hard to get that gasket.

Sometimes it comes with a valve cover gasket kit but often times these days it is missing from that kit.

No worries you really don't need it what you can do is put some black RTV around where the gasket once lived and let it tack up a little bit and then put your baffle back on.
