Who in this forum has removed the automatic transmission from one of these trucks especially b2200?
As I am about to embark on the pulling of one engine and replacing it with the rebuild, I was just under the truck looking around and noticed some things that are new to me because I've only had five speed trucks.
For one I noticed one of the positives immediately was it had a one-piece driveshaft, so that'll be easy to remove.
I noticed that it did not have a removable crossmember like it does in the five-speed trucks. It appears at first glance that the crossmember is welded to the frame and there's a small piece holding the transmission up that can be removed. With that said it was always easier on the five-speed trucks to remove the crossmember and get the transmission out it's actually not difficult however this is looking to be like it may be a challenge.
I say all this because I'm thinking about taking it out and cleaning it because it could really use a good cleaning and the engine will be clean so I feel like they should both be cleaned together that way I can monitor for any leaks and stuff going forward.
Any tips appreciated thanks.
