Alternators

Some on here have talked about putting chevy 2 wire alternators on the trucks my ? Is did you have to change the pulley on it or did it work as it comes?

I don't know much about those I mean I've heard of the GM one wire but from what I understand they don't start charging until maybe the Exciter is excited at 2,000 RPM or so.
So that would tell me it wouldn't charge at idle but again I don't have one so I'm not sure
