Another thing to keep in mind......on the B2600i distributor, the dist. shaft that the rotor mounts onto, is TRIANGULAR. So, you can actually install the B2600i rotor on the shaft in three different positions!! Only one of those three ways is correct! If your truck is running, and you go to remove the rotor.......TAKE A PICTURE OF IT if you are NOT pulling the distributor!! So that you can be certain that you have the rotor installed correctly, when you go to re-install it.
If the distributor is being removed from the engine, you can still mark it if you plan to NOT TURN THE ENGINE OVER while the distributor is removed.......then just re-install distributor & rotor to the positions that they were before removal of the dist.
If you WILL TURN THE ENGINE OVER with the distributor removed......like when you are rebuilding the engine, etc. then just make sure that you position the engine at Top Dead Center for the number 1 cylinder, and follow the factory service manual's directions on installing the distributor. I can post the FSM pages for this if you would like, or you can look it up on Mazda Mitch's Website.
