I'm in Arizona, where two largest counties emissions-test back to 1967 year. I thought California requires all-original equipment though, for all vehicles from mid-1970s on.
Of course, such "modern" testing of the very few older vehicles still on the road is a big governmental boon-dog, as fires, wild fires, etc. pollute way more than the few collector/old vehicles still on the road. Typical bureaucracy (a word I can never spell right without consulting Google).
Don't all the TV networks have fire shows on like Chicago Fire, etc.?
