Front hinged hood?

MazScientist Forgive me for being nosy, but was that truck being built for SPL competition?

Is it a current project?

OGMB2K Both! SPl and a special style tribute mini truck. The owner has a mural going onto the hood that’ll be awesome to look at once the hood lays forward. I’ve done this mod to a few trucks over the years using a Buick LeSabre hinge. I had a binder downloaded off the old Mazdabscene page. It said to use carriage bolts with stacks of washers, but I came up with the idea of using 1.25” square tubing for strength.

look at a first gen Ford Courier or Mazda they opened forward, lots of early 70's Japan made cars open forward

It's harder to get the motor out.

I did not know that. I thought that the engine could come out with the conventional hood.

You can't use an engine crane if the hood is in place......if the hood opened 90°, or close to it, then you could leave it attached.
