MazdaMitch Nw_12 you can replace the bushings. They are listed in the parts list here on the website.
Mrcrowley MazdaMitch what does it take to get the bolts out I've heated and beat on them and can't seem to move them any advice?
Cusser I've replaced the leaf spring bushings on my '88, but not the very front one. Mine were pretty bad. I used yellow ones purchased from an old MazdaTrucking.com member, don't know if those are still available.
Nw_12 Ok, is there any benefit to replacing the springs too. I have new ones that the previous owner bought for the truck so I would need new u-bolts which I am having trouble finding anywhere
kz6fittycent Nw_12 Unless you're experiencing sag, I wouldn't bother. I would, however, keep those new ones for the future. @Cusser were those bushing custom made urethane? If so, might be able to get someone I know to make us some more.
Cusser kz6fittycent were those bushing custom made urethane? I changed my leaf spring bushings back in 2014. I was finding only these available at that time: Leaf spring bushings Front of leaf spring Moog K9948 (O’Reilly, RockAuto) or Mazda 387428330 Rear of leaf spring Mazda UB4028333 Upper rear shackle Mazda UB3928333 Someone at the old MazdaTrucking.com had a set of these yellow urethane bushings new still, and I got them at a good price (might have come from Puerto Rico). But maybe now in 2025 there could be some available (just make sure they aren't for Ford Ranger !!!). Nw_12 The springs that I have are from a local truck suspension store. Same part number on the new ones as the springs that are on the truck currently. I will probably use the part numbers for the bushings that are listed on this forum. I’m probably just going to custom order u-bolts from somewhere as I can’t find any oem ones.
Cusser Mrcrowley what does it take to get the bolts out I've heated and beat on them and can't seem to move them any advice? Didn't have that problem in Arizona, the bolts came right out !
MazdaMitch To me the best penetrating liquid is a 50/50 mix of acetone and transmission fluid....put that in a little squirt bottle, squirt it down and go have a drink or two and come back it should be loose.
Roadster I bought the spring hanger pin new from mazda, only place i found it, and new shackles, then bought poly bushings from https://superprousa.com/collections/bushings/1987-mazda-b2200-base-esi7831680
