93 2600i loses power underload.

So for a year probably my 2600i would have issues with sputtering and decelerating. But it only ever happened when my fuel got under a 1/4 of a tank(I figured the tank just had a lot of junk in it). Once I filled it back up with gas the issue would stop until the fuel got low again.

Recently here it starting happening constantly regardless of fuel level. It's pretty much not drivable right now. Its a hard one to describe, I lose all power for a couple seconds and decelerate but then it sputters and starts rolling again.

Does anyone here have experience with the same problem? If so I would greatly appreciate any help or advice!!!

So, there is a known issue with the electrical portion of the Ignition Switch.......if you are driving down the road and everything just dies, I would first look at the ignition switch (electrical portion). There is also a know issue with the ECU where the 2 Rubicon Capacitors will leak acid onto the board and it starts to etch and corrode the board. When this happens, it affects the fuel injector circuits.

The electrical portion of the ignition switch can actually be taken apart and cleaned, then re-lubed and put back in service. When it is going bad, it seems that the constant voltage signal that is needed at the ignition coil, gets interrupted because of the dirty or worn contacts inside the ignition switch.

I really appreciate the response man! After looking around Google some I was suspicious of the computer board as well. The ignition switch is actually brand new. I replaced it a few months ago.

Im with Axel-Breaker-Earl on this. The first place i have learned to look was the ECU. I've had my 2600i for well over 15 years and I have put two ECU's in it. Both times injectors not firings. The first time I opened the ECU up and there was noticeable corrosion on the board, the second I didnt see anything obvious. These were not back to back reoccurances. I believe I sourced the last one through NAPA but thats been years ago now. And I had to turn in a core.
