Trans not goin in reverse

Hey yall I need some help for some reason my manual trans won't go in reverse now for some reason took from one truck and put in another and now won't go in and it was workin fine b4 any thoughts or help is thanked

Mrcrowley I'm tryin to figure out why the trans is hung in reverse when it was workin b4 install and it was already hooked to motor?

Your shifter handle looks like it is not pointed in the correct orientation. Is the shifter handle bolted down to the transmission? It is not in your picture above......

Axel-Breaker-Earl ya it's just settin there I removed a motor and trans from one truck to the other and now it's stuck in reverse and won't come out

I just had my 5-speed shifter out of the truck yesterday to install a new protective rubber boot. There's really only one way to install it due to the slot in the shifter that lines up with the slot in the transmission. After that you use a 10mm socket to install the 3 bolts.

And gawd, did the bottom of that shifter stink like cat piss from the old gear oil!

OldTrucksRock it's stuck in reverse and was fine when I swapped it

MazdaMitch no not that I recall but could my drive shaft cause the trans to hang in reverse?

That plastic cup bushing that is always disintegrated when you pull the shifter out of the top of the trans, I have some reducing attachments that goes on the typical shop vac that are small enough to get down in the hole and vacuum the pieces out of there.......along with the smell. LOL
