Which is better a manual or electric pump?

Yes, was like that from factory with the carbureted trucks. Obviously, all the fuel-injected trucks use high-pressure electric
fuel pumps in the tank.

Axel-Breaker-Earl If you want to use that clear hose (I wouldn't) then at least use a good fuel-injection style mechanically tightened fuel hose clamp.......this might keep your truck from going up in flames.

Unless those clear/translucent hoses are special ones for fuel lines that I haven't come across before - those would be a great fire hazard, hose clamp quality or not !!!

Plastic zip ties on a fuel hose is not the best idea! If you want to use that clear hose (I wouldn't) then at least use a good fuel-injection style mechanically tightened fuel hose clamp.......this might keep your truck from going up in flames.

I have spoken about this many times and I like to mechanical pump, but it has to be Mazda and not the Carter or any of that other crap they're passing off these days.

I have the same fuel pump on my 1988 B2200 as Mrcrowley's photo shows. I've had my '88 B2200 since 1994 and have never had a fuel pump arm break. I've had fuel pumps leak out the weep hole, never have had a break.

That said: I'll get one through Mazda if I ever need a new fuel pump. My mama taught me to be smart, and learn from others, like Mazda Mitch !!!!
