kz6fittycent.......do you have any pictures of the carnage? The video seems a little fuzzy. How about the Flywheel bolts? Were they all tightened down good?
I was given a complete 1966 389 Pontiac GTO engine many years ago......the PO said the engine was "locked up".......I tore it down as I wanted the cylinder heads.......when I removed the front timing chain cover, I noticed that the camshaft thrust washer bolts were real shiny! I was looking at them through one of the machined holes in the camshaft gear......the 2 thrust washer bolts were LOOSE.......and it just so happened that when the PO shut the engine down, the last time he drove the Goat, one of those bolt heads lodged into one of the camshaft gear holes, and the engine would not turn over! That was the ONLY thing wrong with the engine! I could have pulled those two bolts, put Loctite on them, and torqued them down, and the engine would have been good to go!
You never know what you will find when you tear an engine down!
