drewmoney So i was changing out the lower coolant hose from the intake manifold on the bottom to the metal pipe. While doing so i think i shorted out the starter. found out the main fuse is bolted in the hard way. well now when I try to start the vehicle the key goes to on and everything comes on then turn to start and a click and everything dies. I disconnected the battery and check the main fuse and its not blown. reconnect and try again and same thing. Do you think i shorted the starter and it needs replaced?
Cusser Sounds much more like a battery issue or wiring issue to me. You have a "failure to crank" issue. Do NOT run out and buy a starter, you need to test. Did you try a jump start from another vehicle? Did you put in neutral and attach a thick wire to battery positive and touch to the small terminal on the starter solenoid? Did you try a battery recharge? 4.WHEN the starter is clicking, measure voltage across the battery terminals, post that. Start with that.
drewmoney Cusser just looked into this today tested to make sure the starter was getting proper voltages at the right place and checked out. Pulled it and it tested fine with the battery outside the truck. Took it to oriellys and it tested fine. The clear suggested I check grounds and lo and behold it was a poor ground. Started up after some carb and distributor adjustments. But the temp gauge still didn’t work so back to the temp wire search
Cusser drewmoney The clerk suggested I check grounds and lo and behold it was a poor ground. Yeah, once every blue moon a parts store clerk can have a good suggestion !!! I've cleaned all the ground and positive connections on my own B2200.
