i replaced the spark plugs. the issue still remains. If I dump the clutch and attempt a donut it almost stalls out. it revs up then at wide open throttle it just hesitates and cuts out. Checked the spark plug wires, they were in good condition, as-well as the rotor and rotor cap. If i retard the timing and attempt it, it stalls out completely.

Do you have a stock carburetor or weber carburetor,?

Ohhh yeah I'm dumb it's definitely in the fuel injection section....
Have you looked in the workshop manual that we have here on the website in the fuel injection section troubleshooting part of it??

MazdaMitch i have not, I did not see the fuel injection workshop manual, I was there for the cooling one so I must have not seen it lol

In the fuel injection section it looks like after reading through the troubleshooting stuff that your problem may be on pages f-82 and f-84.

Might need to check your fuel pressure.

Axel-Breaker-Earl the new fuel filter is otw. I ran the gas to almost E, filled it up to almost half way, the hesitation went away! Gonna fill it up tmr with chevron gas tmr and hope for the best. might have to clean the tank out, replace the sender unit while its out?

If your fuel tank is rusty inside, the fuel filter is toast. Replace the fuel filter for sure.......it more than likely needs a new one.
