I break the head down completely, lap the valves, and take a close look at the camshaft and valvetrain components. Along the way, I uncover significant wear that could easily be missed if you’re not paying attention.
We also talk about what your options are when you find damage like this, including sending the cam out for a regrind and whether a junkyard cylinder head is really worth using in your build.
