[sold!] Time to part with my 1987 B2000 that I've had for about two years (first time posting forms but casually lurked the facebook group - can see the post on the seat covers 🙂 ). Wanted to post here before I post locally/donate because not passing smog. Truck runs and drives fine but just not passing smog and think it's cause it's overcooling (already had waterpump and thermostat replaced) and don't want to spend more $ trying to find a way to appease the CA smog gods. Temp gauge goes to 1/4 max. Barely failed the first time and second time was worse so not sure whats going on. Registration expires this month (3/31).
Pros:
- Clean title and pink slip in hand
- relatively low miles
- interior is quite good I think - dash not cracked but peeling back in one spot (see photo), and seat and headliner are really good IMO
- runs and drives!
- pretty new tires
- "custom" seat covers I made
- good chunk of maintenance in last 1k miles (been avg about 500/yr - used for home depot and projects) including: 4 tires, thermostat, water pump, carb/fuel filters, valve cover gaskets, timing belt, cam seals, oil change, pedal covers, wipers, new exhaust piping, spark plugs/wires and distributor cap, battery
- CA owned (to my knowledge)
- "fun" signs added by what I believe was the original owner who was a army veteran
- original jack and some spark parts (e.g. door card clips, distributor rotor)
- sliding rear window (works and doesn't leak!)
- stamped tailgate and working great
- heat works (no AC or power steering)
Cons:
- small chip on windshield - same size since I've had it
- still has some small oil leak near lower front of engine
- right speaker broken
- when hazards on, one of the blinkers doesn't come on (but does work when turning)
- brakes likely due for a service soon
- rough 1-2nd shift when cold (I keep it gentle until warm) - smooth when warm
- some dings/dents and surface rust and debadged by previous owner
- maybe normal but sometimes requires one pump of the gas for smooth start when cold
