I've ordered some 1/2" x 1/8" thick self-adhesive foam tape (Amazon) to replace the worn/torn gaskets under the covers below the cowl. I have an assortment of Harbor Freight panel fasteners here that I'll take for the cowl rubber seal and two end fasteners.

On my truck, I made little plastic covers to exclude hot outside air from getting in to help the AC, as our summer outside air 3 feet above the pavement can be 140F. These can be seen here.

oh that is a top idea! summers here in australia can be brutal. my ac doesnt work atm, and anything to try and stop the heat getting in is worth a try.

That's what ReCirc does.
It is a big trap door that's seals off the outside air.

That depends on the material that was used on the steel flap door originally. The earlier trucks (1986 & 1987 for sure) had a vinyl covered soft foam that has held up really well over the years, but the later models used the plain foam that deteriorates rather quickly.......you never get a true seal on "recycle" with it.

ReCirc/Recirculation mode always lets in SOME outside air, for safety, for those that don't know to open the window a bit every two hours.

Cusser mine run pretty slow and won't move at all really if it'd not running ? Is your pretty much dead if not running

My wipers seem OK now. I added 1/2" x 1/16" self-adhesive foam tape to seal the under-cowl covers, and I have painted the wiper arms black as the paint had worn off in some areas.

Cusser Good to see you got your wipers back in working order.

Mine started acting up again in Wyoming while I was driving X country. I wasn't able to source a replacement motor so I used a 2002 Nissan Frontier wiper motor. Works great!

It just so happens that I have 1998 and a 2004 Nissan Frontiers. And since it rarely rains here in Arizona, my '88 wiper motor hasn't worked very hard.

My little brain just doesn't understand why Mazda couldn't utilize a wiper motor already used in a different Mazda model, or use one from supplier such as Mitsubishi or Hitachi that already existed......

If anybody picks up a used B2200 windshield wiper motor on eBay or a wrecking yard, Cusser's excellent write up covers how to bench test those motors with clear easy to follow photos.

My wiper motor still works but I wanted a spare and found a seller on eBay that was selling what he thought was a Miata wiper motor for $25. that was actually a B2200 motor and I bought it but had no idea how to bench test it. Luckily it works great and looks way better than mine. For some reason B2200 wiper motors sell for far more money than other Mazda wiper motors.
